DNS names for joining servers

Hi,

I just made some host names which redirect to servers. This way you can go to servers by "open name" instead of "open ip":

tcp.cheiz.nl: TCP Euro Custom Maps TDM
gf.cheiz.nl:1337: German Fun Server*
jd.cheiz.nl:7807: Jolt Deck16 Only*
cheiz.nl: My server (ver y seldom up, maybe when i get 1MBit up)

*may not be working yet till tomorrow

I can make as many as i want so i u want more just tell me

He says that you can enter those lines into your host file and then only need to type the name, which you assigned in the host file to a certain IP, in the Unreal Browser instead of the ip itself.

I believe he means you don't even have to modify your HOST file.

By the way; why keep you changing the URL of the download page?
(From aliens.gamepoint.net to degroenepulk.nl to tcp-clan.cjb.cc) I got some links to it which keep dieing this way.

That is Carnage's domain, but he was under the impression gamepoint had stopped its free hosting so he was already relocating.

Seeing that my avatar on the old page is working again also, I have to assume it was just a lengthy downtime...

The aliens.gamepoint is no more so i had to relocate the files and site

question...

if someone starts a server without putting thier matser server uplink to true, can people still join it using the server´s ip? not that id do that, just curious...

You can join servers by Ip or DNS name without douplink is set to true. Douplink only causes your server to be submitted to the master server(s).

but you must still configure your router( if yoyu have one) for people to join in any way? (except lan)
