Yep XP for me, even though it still tries to phone home at every opportunity, hides stuff, has weight problems with many useless or unwanted "features", look and generally act like a sneaky 7 year old ... at least by now I know how to mostly make it act like a proper decent honest OS working as I want it to rather than as
they think I shouuld want ... I will probably use XP until the drivers run out or some killer app requires an erm "upgrade"

... the Vista that came with this pc lasted about a day before it was ditched

... I would still be using Win98 if I could still get the drivers etc

Linux just involves too much hastle for me to try, although I wholeheartedly applaud the sentiment.

You can play UT2004 under Linux, yes. Our ex-member the_kay used to do that. I've never tried it though. I'm pretty sure you can use your .ini files there, but they may need a little tweaking (not sure though).
Kubuntu is Ubuntu with the KDE desktop. I never really liked Gnome (which comes with Ubuntu), so I prefer Kubuntu.

Windows 7 Home 32bit and haven't had one single problem since 5 months

Never thought I'd actually leave XP, but it's really a vast improvement :O

Rams, thanks for typeing for me.
I use Win xp, and I have really tried everyone, up till then. 98 was the best until XP came, and I still dream of its reliabilty. I still have the disk here, and may install it on an old system, to get some of my old games working again.
I tried LINUX once, and it is a big jump for a Windows user. I would still like to try though.
WIN 8? is there such an animal out there already? OMG, I am getting old. Frank

Be carefull, you need the linux version of UT or u must patch it anyhow.....
I have the Midway Version and not the Atari version of UT and there isnt a linux logo on it.

No, as I wrote, I've never tried to install or run UT2004 under linux. But I'm sure it shouldn't be too much of a problem if you have some basic Linux knowledge.

I've run UT2004 with Ubuntu. Installing was easy as well, just use the included linux install.sh file on the disk.
