Fancy playing some JailBreak (UT2004)?

I think this might interest you guys as you have both veteran players (who may have enjoyed JailBreak a few years ago) and recent players (who may have not ever played JailBreak online).

For a few weeks now, every Friday night there is a JailBreak night on the Titan Freon server #2 (multi-gametype server):

Server address:
ut2004://85.232.32.199:7880

Detailed server info page:
http://piglet-1.titaninternet.co.uk/cgi ... l?server=4

Discussion thread:
http://ut2004.titaninternet.co.uk/forum ... hp?t=18976

Download page for JailBreak if you want to install it to try offline or to avoid to have to wait while downloading most of the things from the server/redirect. Grab "Jailbreak 2004b full version – Editor's Choice Edition" (118.5 MB):
http://jailbreak.beyondunreal.com/download/jb2004-mod/

Things should start around 20.00 (BST) / 21.00 (CET). Some people might only join later (23.00 CET), so hopefully there should always be a decent amount of players.

If you don't know what JailBreak is, imagine a sort of mix of TAM, Freon and CTF.
Two teams compete. When a player is "killed" he goes into the enemy jail (there are sometimes more than one jail).
Your team gets one point if you manage to jail the whole enemy team and then another round starts. The team with most points at the end of the match (20 min.) wins.
This part is what is similar to TAM.

The interesting part is that each jail has a lock (located in enemy territory of course). You can therefore go and try to get to the lock(s) to free your jailed team mates.
There is a "radar" system (and a sort of mini-map when pressing F1) to guide you towards the lock(s).
Of course, this won't be easy as enemies are probably roaming around the lock(s).
Players who have just been freed have a temporary protection of course and if you shoot one of them you receive a sort of penalty (I will let newcomers experiment to see what it is :)).

Also, from time to time two enemy prisoners are taken from their respective jails, play a duel in an isolated area and the winner is freed.

Although I have not seen it, some maps are supposed to also have some sort of ways to escape from a jail if players cooperate (I suppose it means something like climbing on one player to jump higher to a hatch, perhaps with some trials-like obstacles to overcome).
Prisoners can also busy themselves by shield gunning each other (no impact on the score/stats while you are in jail).

Well, I played it some months ago already and must say, it was too much of a camping game in my eyes. As soon as players were in the prison, everybody was just camping the switch(es) required to touch for opening the prison again. :( And because I neither like to be the victim of the campers, nor enjoy camping myself, this gametype isn't any good for me, unfortunately. But I wish you guys good fun...

I suppose that what you describe can happen (with any gametype with a fixed objective I guess).

But when I played it was rather dynamic.
Perhaps because it is still relatively recent for many players so they prefer to roam and learn the map rather than camping.

Also, with the Arena match system, since there is quite good a chance that an enemy wins the arena match, if you wait too long by camping you are not doing a service to your team.

Try and join tonight (or next week) and see if people camp too much on this server (and if they do, feel free to leave of course).

Thank you for showing up guys.
I hope you enjoyed it (it seemed so) and that the next times even more people join.

I have posted on the Titan forums the complaint about the bots (I quite agree too).

If you have other remarks, post them here and I'll forward them to the Titan forums.

Do let me know by PM or otherwise if any of you are still banned on Titan servers after my Image-hissy-fit a while back about the Cuddles playing style I was using. I was in a Image and forgot to undo my Image-stroppiness

Bots now at Masterful (they were inhuman as per normal Freon settings) - give me a shout if they're still too much of a pain.
