DM-WiP-Caution-v1jc

Hi again,

This time I've done a small, winter city map. It's not too big, and for 32 players it would probably be Gael-like. :] The buildings have stairways. There are two huge lifts which constantly move across the map. Do not stand under them when they descend (you will get crushed). I also wanted to add a sewer section, and some decorations and sounds, but it can wait. It's playable as is.

Unzip and copy the map to your UT2004\Maps folder.

Jump off the roof, but if you dodge jump, beware of the edge. If your momentum hits the edge, you'll trip and fall instead..

The DM version does not feature the lightning gun, though. You'll have to use your skills with the shock rifle instead. ;)

Note: TAM apparently doesn't care much about PlayerStart positions, as I learned with the AdHoc map, so where you wind up is out of my control.. :) There are only eight PlayerStart positions anyway.

Let me know what you think!

Thanks,
Ray

Hi!

Nice map, rejecht! As you said, the look isn't final yet, but the layout is really nice and interesting to play. First thing that happened to me was that I got squished by one of the two floating platforms when I was fighting a bot at the place where it comes down. ;-)

Coco.

 Necromancy! This is old, and flat, and very basic. (BlOb, you necromancer. Now look what you've done. :D)

I haven't worked on it since around December 2008, but I'll have a look at it later and see if I come up with something..

@Carnage: No worries, of course, and thanks for uploading the updates!

@partydevil: It's also a minor step back in time.

@Coco: If I were to change something, it might be to use terrain for the ground instead, and add snow.--Too bad the moving platform doesn't cast a shadow, so maybe a proximity alert would help, but it should make a constant sound.

Thanks for the interest. :)

It's just that it's old (my second public map, I think), and the rooms are very empty, and it's difficult to add decorative stuff that would logically fit in there, which would make it a bit more interesting. (But there's a rage against the machine poster on one of the walls, and that makes up for it. :P)

Lol, I didn't recognise it was a topic revival. ;-)

You could add prison decoration, like iron doors. ;)

:D I know it's very prison like. Not too many creative options when confining players to a map. Would be awesome if they could run around a spheric world, like in Spore. hehe
