Looks nice.
I'm looking around for a new computer aswell, checking out hardware etc. But my budget is a bit bigger then yours. So far what I came up with gets me to 1600 euros O_o (including mouse, mousepad, wirelessrouter, new case, motherboard, vidcard, cpu, memory, cpu cooler, dvd-writer, windows vista and 3x harddisks).
I got a really old pc atm, AMD 2600+ , 1gb ram and ATI 9700 pro. About 5-6 years old now I think. I can't run ut2004 at max 85 fps online (yeah I know you can unlock it, but I don't even get 85 fps

), I got around 60 fps online with drops to 40 or drops to 20 if its a fucked up custom map with shitload of static meshes in it etc

.
So I need a kickass system very soon. Maybe next month I'll order it. But your system looks nice aswell magic

Hi!
Funny, you almost got the same system as mine, except that I have an AthlonXP 2400+ and a Radeon 9600.

And my mainboard is maxed with this CPU (I even needed to update the BIOS to be able to use it).

I'm not sure it's a good idea to unlock it on high-end systems. On my current Intel rig, I get so many FPS when unlocked the game starts behaving abnormal and inducing insane amounts of lag which make it unplayable.

I havent unlocked it, simpy because my monitor cant show more frames at high resolutions with 60 hz/60 fps.
The monitor just cant show more, it might say over 100-200+ fps in game...but if the screen cant show it...whats the use of unlockin it?

Some people claim it "feels more fluid", but I can't really imagine that unless they are playing on high frequency monitors (and 60 Hz is just that, 60 pictures per seconds, and not one frame more...)

Hmz yes interesting ... maybe a placebo effect ? It definately "felt" better for me but I have a 60 Hz monitor lol.

Hi!
Well, it depends whether you have "wait for vsync" active in your 3d settings. If yes, you definitely won't see any difference, because all intermediate frames aren't displayed anyway. If not, then you'll get parts of the screen with different frames, e.g. the first third with frame A, the second third with frame B and the third third with frame C. For me, it would be rather disturbing than more smoothly, especially because you get those nasty splitlines between these parts of the screen. You'll notice them best when performing a constant quick horizontal move.
Conclusion: Playing with VSync on (in case your system is quick enough that your fps never falls below your screen refresh rate) is definitely the smoothest experience you can get, regardless how many frames you could render in fact. However, raising your screen refresh rate to the maximum while keeping VSync active (and your system being fast enough) would optimise it.

Nice rig magic, although I would have spend a bit more on the graphicscard. Save an extra €100 and you would have a ati 3870 or a cheap 8800gt
