My New PC

Ok yeah.. so I bought the pc.. will be receiving it tomorrow..
So a question for you guys..better yet.. lets make it a poll..
How far do you think my cpu will overclock..
It's at 2.6ghz now (5000+ BE)..If you are wondering why I overclock.. my cpu comes with an easy unlocked multiplier.. so I can easily bump it up.. and maybe 1 small corevoltage tweak to get it even higher..
This way the cpu runs much cooler than when bumping fsb/htt bus

I guess 3.2 with multiplier but I think you get higher performance if you overclock your fsb

i've pimped it in a system i've build up in October 2007 till 3,3 Ghz.
Cooled down by an Arctic Cooling Freezer 64.
But Temperature rised up till 66 degree. Not so good.
At 3,4 Ghz OS didn't started.
With the system i've build a few weeks ago, i used new Athlon 64 X2 5200+ (EE) with 2 x 1024 kb cache. This processor didn't disposed over an open stepping for the cpu-multiplier. So I had to rise the FBS.
At 3,38 Ghz i stopped this freaky show.

I worried about the health of the processor, cause it should be a christmas present for one of my sons.
Never the less, benchmarks with the 5200+ system are a little bit faster, than with the overclocked 5000+ BE. And, temperature wasn't so high.
57 degrees. Cool!
Much luck with your overclocking. You don't need to be afraid. All new Athlons screw down theire stepping, when they get to hot.
Yours Skar

My friend has a 6000+ running on 4.2ghz..
He's using nitrogen cooling..
the system boots at this speed.. but not without errors..
for personal use he switches it back to 4.0ghz..
I can never reach that amount.. nitrogen cooling is expensive.. and this dude has a loooot of money..and i do not. so yeh..

dunno.. it is definitely not originally made for cooling cpus.. but it is possible..
nitrogen has allowed world records on cpu's..
the highest clocked amd.. is the 6000+ currently at 5,1ghz + the world record..
intel's highest is the cedar mill celeron 8xx (dunno exact number)..
they got that to 8.2ghz + a few..also world record..
however.. the average person.. using water, superior air.. or nitrogen should be able to get to 4.0 for amd.. and 5.0 for intel..
granted this costs a shitload of cash..
I am statisfied with at least 3.0ghz on my 5000+

Give me nitrogen cooling and I would still blow things up

lol..that is nitroglycerine.. a completely different way of using the nitrogen substance..
I prefer regular bombs tho..

For the cars they usualy use Nitrous Oxide btw .. gassy form of glycerine

I prefer napalm for blowing stuff up
more flames
anyway i have no friggin idea what overclocking is and the only part i understood was the blowing up stuff part
would anyone care to explain?
thank you

overclocking is when you push your hardware part over the stock volume/quantity/speed/whatever..
as hardware is made at a certain.. standard and level.. some fail at that standard and are sold als lower versions of the item..
other are capable of much more..
so when you buy this item you will find there is room to take it to the max..

Well, I overclocked it..
I could get to 3.1ghz without vcore adjust..
turned it up 0.025 from 1.350 to 1.375..and got it to 3.3ghz..
Turned it up to 1.4 and got it to 3.4ghz, orthos and prime95 stable..
Turning the multiplier any higher resulted in freezes and other crap..
Then I turned up the ht bus.. did it 2 mhz per boot..when I got at 208mhz (8 over stock) it would still boot perfectly.. but not without errors in prime95.. so turned it back to 207.. at this.. orthos + prime stable..
so final result: 207x17 = 3519mhz
919mhz over stock.. a bit dissapointed i couldn't make it to 1 ghz.. but hey.. its still 35.3% overclock percentage..
It's running reasonably cool.. 32celcius idle and 49 load... and i didn't want it to exceed 50..
My system is:
5000+ BE @ 3,52ghz
HD3850 Crossfired
2x 1GB Transcend DDR2-800 4-4-4-12
250GB Samsung HDD @ 7200 16MBcache
3DMark06 @ 14.096
EDIT:
I have not yet overclocked the graphic cards.
After doing this I estime about 16k score at 3dmark..
