Hey all,

thanks for the great ons-server you guys are running.

Some suggestions:

ONS-Airmars

ONS-SpaceJox

ONS-DomeOfDeath

ONS-StairsOfDoom

I will try to post later on download links.

Cheers!

Hi Princess!

Hmm, I played some of them already, but I can't remember the details at the moment. Isn't Airmars the one with the Zeppelins? Well, I'll have a look at them and post my opion then...

Hi Coco,

right. There is a big zeppelin / starship in the middle. Node setup is important.

Don't forget to check spacejox.

I took a look at "AirMars" yesterday, and am buff. It is a great map, and would really like to play this one with some of you folks. It is basically an air war type of map. There are very few bugs in it, and the node setup is designed for overlapping tight fights. You will know what I mean when you play it.

Hi!

Well, I have now checked all of the suggested maps. Here's my opinion:

1. ONS-AirMars:
This is a nice map with three different link setups. I can imagine it's a little tricky to play with many players, because each node has to be approached with a flying vehicle, which is easy to shoot down (so it can be a little annoying over the time). My prognosis is that this map will produce long rounds which are likely to end in overtime. Still, I recommend to give it a try on the server.
I found three versions of this map. The original ONS-AirMars, a version called ONS-AirMars-G8 (which, regarding to the readme-file, is a 32 players adaption of the original map) and a version called ONS-AirMars-H3 (this one is being played on Titan - I don't know if it's a higher version than G8 since I extracted it from my cache and thus don't have a readme-file).

2. ONS-DomeOfDeath:
A small map with 5 nodes close to each other in a single dome. Each node is shootable from the entire map and even worse: there are all super weapons in each weapon locker. This map is extremely spammy and I would not recommend to install it. It seems impossible to win this map without overtime and mindless spawn-and-die all the time.

3. ONS-SpaceJox:
This is a low gravity and no vehicles ONS map. There are lots of chances to fall into space and (similar to DomeOfDeath) the nodes are shootable from far distances. In my test game, I was not able to build the middle node (which usually is the first to become shootable). The whole game happened there with no team finishing this node. Extremely boring and frustrating. Also not recommended for our server.

4. ONS-Stairs_Of_Doom:
This is a symmetric map with no vehicles as well. Both cores are located close to each other, separated by a wall. The level consists of three big stairs with ramps leading downwards. The highest step holds the cores, the middle one holds a node for each team and the lowest level holds a node in the center. I was able to capture that lowest node and could destroy the one below the enemy's core, but it seemed impossible to load it because the enemy players spawn at their core and simply need to shoot downwards from there to prevent the oponents from loading it. So game progress has stalled there, leaving only boredom and frustration. Also not recommended to add to our server.

In oder for you to try these maps yourself, I'll append them to this post (see below). It's a single Zip archive that only needs to be extracted to your UT2004 main directory, as it contains all files needed in the appropriate subdirectories. The AirMars version inside the archive is ONS-AirMars-H3.

I personally think the Airmars map is a bit unbalanced, the other team has to be a bit better and it can win in 5 mins :?

Check "magicisle" out. Its a big map (for 32 players) with 2 ways to the core.
There are a lot of vehicles. I played it often and i love it^^

Hi!

I made a search for it and found this download location, which seems to have the newest version. I don't know what the "Solace" stands for, because there's no readme file included. The map still seems to be under development. This is version 7-Solace_b4 from December 4th (at least it was added to FileFront at this date).

I downloaded it, but I can't try it currently, because I have to work. Maybe you can have a look at it, Marwin, and tell us if it's the one you had in mind!?

Just DLed it, and will check it out. It is big, and with no author... hmmmm

***EDIT***

Just opened the map, and it gave me an error screen, that not all textures and other things, are not there. I then looked up the author and I believe I know where to find him. More later!!! Frank :)

***Edit # 2 ***

Well, it is a very well put together map. You can see, allot of work went into this map. Some of the vehicles weapons and skins have been changed. that is why I got an error when I opened it. I will try to contact the guy and see if there is a newer version coming out.
