Hello there,

I just wanted to inform you all that I'm away from Wednesday noon until Sunday evening, hunting down Orcs, Undead and all other kind of evil creatures at Europes biggest Live Roleplaying event (approx. 5000 players!) in Germany: The Conquest of Mythodea (click at the ConQuest logo on the page to learn more).

That means, I will wear my wizards robe and play my Halfelven mage once again. :-D Hopefully, my character will survive this next adventure until I return to the real world and become human again. :-) I will try to make it to the training on Sunday, but I'll likely be tired out and physically exhausted, as we usually get few sleep and are running over meadows and through the forests all day (and night!).

Wish me luck, my warrior mates from the future world of Unreal...

Coco.

P.S.: Btw., Carhith is accompanying me with her Elven sorceress character. Maybe, I'll post a picture from the two of us when I'm back. ;-)

Have fun there! It can be chance to gain a lot of money.
For example current world champions of Counter Strike, Polish team caled PGS Pokerstrategy.cc has won overall 500000 zł! Each member gained about 100000zł so its something like 33000 USD!

I don't think u gain so much, but if u take high place then u can gain even few thousand of euros :D.

Hi!

Well, I'm leaving in a few minutes and just wanted to say thanks for your good wishes!

@Marcin: You can't win any money there. It isn't a computer game, but we're wearing medieval costumes and act real, like in a live play, instead. We also have weapons that look quite realistic, but are padded so no one can get hurt. And with these, we're having real fights... with swords, axes, staffs (I as a magician have a 1,80m twisted black staff, for example), longbows, crossbows, etc. It all looks like at the front page of the link that I posted. These are indeed shots from the event of last year!

@Kobra: It's hard to film or take photos there, because the plot (in-game storyline) runs 24 hours a day. And usually, I'm involved in the things happening, which means that I hardly get a rest. :-) But there are professional photographers and television teams there, so there'll be lots of things to view afterwards. Last year, the German television stations WDR, NDR and RTL2 were reporting about it. RTL2 had it in the 20:00 news in the evening (but I don't know which day - the event is 5 days long).

@Muh: Everybody's free to sign up to participate. You don't need to be anybody special or something. The LARP scene has evolved from the roleplaying community (not computer RPGs, but pen-and-paper RPG). In the last years, it has grown fast and now there are real big events. Basically, we're camping there and feeding ourselves (making barbecue over open fire in front of the tents) - but all in medieval style. And even when you're eating, you have to take care not to be surprised by attacking enemies. :-) Anyway, non adults need the permission of the parents to take part in the event and need to have a person on the LARP who's responsible for them. You can see all of this on the webpage, in case you're interested. The ConQuest is being organised every year and in case you are spontaneous, you can even simply go there and buy a ticket at the entrance. The prices are staggered though. If you sign up early, you only pay about half the price as directly there (prices are between 60 and 100 Euro this year).

@Frank & Slaphead: Thanks, mates! We'll definitely have lots of fun and we'll try to take a picture. But in case we can't do it, I can show you one from last year. :-)

Driving now...
Coco.

Looks a bit odd to me...

Can I ask, what do you do there other than walk around in a costume like that?
