Node setup ArcticStronghold

I request the removal of the second node setup of ArcticStronghold (which looks something like the following:)
Code: Select all
C C is Power Core
/ \ N is Power Node
N N
\ /
N <-- This is where all the fighting happens
/ \
N N
\ /
C
The reason is that all the fighting happens on the middle node and it's nearly impossible to build and hold it. The map usually ends in Overtime and one team wins with 12:0 (or something similar...)

No! ONS is tactic gameplay, teamplaying, wise using guns and vehicles, not some spamage like in biggest craps (Gunshop, MassDestruction-these maps are more like VTDM-Vehicle Team Deathmatch). If you want play massacre then go play Invasion (which is fun IMO)

I played in that one also lastnight. Even though the second game went fast, both times I played were exciteing. Yes, the middle node is hard to take/defend, it is that much more fun to keep trying.

The middle node has the same problem as the middle Nodes in BitchSlap:
a) It is not protected by any nearby walls.
b) It can be shot easily by a position that is nearby enemy power nodes. (means: Enemy spawn and attack fast, killing them will result their return in a short period of time. They can also shoot the Node with Shock/LG from far away)
c) They are absolutely necessary to win; there is no alternative way.
Things get worse with more players.
You can't do anything about a) and b) without changing much of the maps structure, but you can do something about c), giving the teams a chance to use another way to win.
To propose something concrete:
What do you think about the following link setup? 2 more nodes have to be placed for that one
Code: Select all
C C is Power Core
/ \ N is Power Node
N--N
/ \ / \
N N N <-- fighting is at many points
\ / \ /
N--N <-- isolating up to 3 enemy nodes is possible

Looks interesting. But where to put them?

For the Carnage lovers, this should do:

I made some screenshots of possible positions. It's not easy though, because the map is small and there are not many places for additional nodes...

Hi!
Nice, kay. This could work well. Maybe, we should give it a try. It doesn't matter that the node locations aren't perfect in every aspect. They rarely are.
Coco.

the map is a bit small for more nodes... why don't you just remove the middle one and make two paths (so, that in one case its possible, for both sides to atack cores simultaniously(i know, i type like a russian^^)

You mean something like the following?
Code: Select all
C C is Power Core
/ \ N is Power Node
N N

N N
\ /
C
Hm, I think this is a bit boring. Perhaps it would be better to cross the Nodes, making it a bit more surprising and interesting:
Code: Select all
C C is Power Core
/ \ N is Power Node
N N
\ /
/ \
N N
\ /
C
