ONS Server: duration of a map

Hello everyone
I noticed that one map lasts very short on our TAM server. With at maximum 19 rounds, you have approximated 15 minutes maximum duration on one map.
On the other side, our ONS server, we have a score limit of 3. You get one point winning during overtime and two if you win before that. That means that in the worst case you have 5 rounds with each 20 minutes + overtime (perhaps about 5 minutes, I don't know...). Makes over two hours. And this isn't just theory, I have seen maps that lasted more than a hour.
There are many complains about that with which I have to agree.
So my proposal is this:
- 10 minutes instead of 20 minutes before overtime (if that's too extreme in your eyes, perhaps 15 minutes...)
- Score limit only 2, not 3
OR
- there are two rounds, no matter how what score the teams have... (like in Assault)... but I don't know whether that works...
What do you think about this?

Interesting point.
Maybe 15mins rounds would be better.
To be honest,I never really thought about it.

Many people on the server complain about it. They use it as an argument against ToySoldiers, for example: They say it will take hours to finish that map (and they are not wrong, in my opinion...)

yea, but i think that problem is just on Toysoldiers Kay ^^

Same could be said for bitchslap or any other choke node map ..
But i can make it 15 mins per round .. however i will not make it 2 points

What about this? Is this possible / wanted?

It's ONLY a map fault. If the map has choke node setup (most stupid node setup ever), it's obvious that it will lead to overtime. It's also boring, because you can have only one way...
However, overtimes are NOT a problem on a decent maps with more decent link setups, in example ONS-Volcano High. Even if there is an overtime, it isn't boring, because you still can fight back, you can chose wchich node you will attack (no choke), etc.
So, like I said, it's not the fault of overtime. The only problem here are maps with choke link setup (Battlefront, Toy Soldiers, Gunshop and few others).

I don't know why there is overtime, but the maps you just mentioned are very often played on the server and we should therefor change the map OR change the server setup to make sure everyone is happy...

I suggest changing the maps with choke node setup or changing their node setup (you don't need author's permission to change node setup).
The problem you mentioned exist only on maps with choke node setup, so why should we change the rules (less time before overtime) for all maps?
I HATE choke link setups, because they never produce a good game - it's boring (you can chose only one way to attack the enemy core), it leads to overtime, it gives small chances of comeback.

Hi!
Well, I thought about all of this, too. First of all: You need to have 3 points as the winning score. Otherwise, there won't be a second round for the losers if the map was finished before overtime.
About the time limit: 20 minutes is standard. I believe, there won't be that much difference if you change it to 15 minutes. And 10 minutes might be a little short.
The problem are the maps, as Meledictum said already. There are some that produce long games by design. But with the time, I got used to this and it's not really a problem for me. If I don't feel like I want to play another round, I simply leave the server at the end of a round instead of the end of the map.
Coco.

I don't get it, why can't we just remove the crappy maps (those with choke link setups)? Instead of this, we change the rules for all maps... And don't say it's because they are popular (Battlefront, Gunsh1t... I mean, Gunshop), Mass Destruction and Sands of Destruction were popular too, but they were removed.

I think this was addressed once b-4. Yes, Gunshop, and battlefront have chokepoints, but they (and other choke point maps) are very popular. There is only one solution to this, and that is to down the time limit by 5 or 10 minutes. Sometimes the maps do take too long, I aggree, but the point is, these maps are one of the reasons that PLP play here. They are well liked by all.

Ye, but they doesn't bring good fun

. Ask decent players from Titan about this maps and they'll tell you one: These maps are big shits and players are crapping on it from height.
