As a general opposer of capital punishment I don't think killing Saddam was a good thing.
In my opinion all sentient beings have an unalienable right to life. Taking lives of others is (perhaps excluding euthanasia and other exceptions) not a good thing. But the question is if a bad thing justifies another bad thing. If you kill Saddam the act of killing itself is a bad thing (while it may have positive side effects).
So if you kill another person because this person killed another person, this is not a good thing itself. There is also a logical problem with that. If you kill everyone who kills anyone else, all executioners are murderers, too so that you have to kill them too: It ends up everyone killing everyone for killing anyone and that's not exactly what we want I think.
Looking at the positive side effects of killing Saddam I don't think there are many. Saddam himself would have been sentenced to lifelong prison so he can't harm anyone else anymore. For people in Iraq it might be even dangerous because it could lead to a civil war (although I don't think that will happen just because of Saddam's execution). And just for determent so that there won't be any dictators anymore.... If a guy is hardcore enough to kill so many people you won't stop him with saying: "Hey, if you kill someone else maybe USA will come in 10 or 20 years and kill you"
The crime both committed was basically the same, but you have to remind that Hitler killed much more people... This is no belittlement of Saddam's crimes

I totally agree with you, Skarijscout. This is definitely one of the things that I really must not see. In fact, I find it abjectly to watch someone else to be executed, no matter what that person did. There's absolutely no reason to catch it on camera and even less reason to spread it or view it in public. Hussian was bad sucker like Hitler and all his German soldiers (Wehrmacht, Gestapo, SS) during II World War. I read Slappy's post about murders what Saddam done, so now I think he deserved on it. Now devil will show him in hell what is the price of being such bad bastard.
