He forgets to explain why the machine goes with the ruler and faster than.

I have an idea but Im not sure:
Because the big wheel is bigger than the small wheels, the moment that the big wheel turns, the smaller wheels will turn faster. Wich will make the smaller wheels go faster then the big wheel and so go faster then the ruler wich will make the whole machine go faster then the ruler.

If the wheels were of even size then the car would have moved to the opposite direction of the ruler.

Does that make sense?

how can this be? i tell you its fake, there is no way the ruler goes right and the big wheel left he would brake the movement :p

this effect could only happen if the ruler stands still and the table with the car on it would move right or left trust me :0

he isn't moving the the wheel whit the ruler like he said

he is pushing the wheel down on a certain angle (and moves the ruler whit it also a bit for the show)
wich obvius makes the wheel turn left and the cart go right

U must see the fixed point and the fixed point is.........the table! not the ruler.

So u have to see it from the other way.


Table fix,
vehicle go to the right,
the little wheels turn clockwise,
the big wheel anticlockwise and makes a way on the ruler.

The ruler isnt fix, the table is, the ruler is only the drive.

The problem is that the big wheel moves in a different way relative to the ruler than a wheel normally would on the ground (for example the tyre of a car).

My explanation is as follows: By moving the ruler to the right, you exert a force on the cart that is also directed to the right. Imagine a contruction without any wheels, for example a simply wood block with some rubber on top and a smooth bottom. When moving the ruler to the right, the block would simply slide to the right as well. This indicated the direction of the force.

Now, with wheels mouonted under the construction, the whole cart has no other choice than to move to the right, with the wheels moving clockwise (just like a normal car). And seen like this, it follows that the big wheen has to move anti-clockwise.

The interesting question is: Why does it move at double speed? I believe it comes from the different sizes of the wheels and the force applied to them. Because the force is applied to the big wheel, the small wheels have to move much faster here. However, a detailed explanation would probably require a physics diploma.
