Hi!
I'm using PGP for years already.
I remember I had it back on the Amiga in the 90s at first. But these days, I would encourage everybody to use GPG instead of PGP, since PGP has backdoors for the US government implemented.
GPG is free and available for almost every OS. Those interested can find it
here.

I am using both gpg and truecrypt
My 20gb home partition is encrypted and also my external 200gb disk...

A backdoor in PGP? Never heared of that. Most respected security gurus fully trust and endorse both PGP as GPG. Do you have any sources to prove your statement?

Much proprietary software has back doors. Sometimes they are for the company that develops the program and sometimes it's for the government.
For example Microsoft Windows has a back door for the
National Security Agency, NSA in the USA (_NSAKEY)

No, I'm not 100% sure. All I can say is that PGP was bought by Network Associates in 1997. After this, I heard and read a lot about backdoors which were implemented on behalf of the US government. For me, this was the turn to GPG, which is open software, so it can't contain a backdoor without anybody noticing.
I must admit that I didn't know that the PGP sourcecode is also available meanwhile. So maybe, it really doesn't contain backdoors (anymore). Nevertheless, I still feel more comfortable using GPG, so I'll continue with it.
