Hi Lizard man!

Hmm, hard to tell. I never had to deal with one. Probably they don't dare to attack me. ;-)

In rpg games.. there are often.. "overpowered" characters..

Due to badly balanced skills/gear options..

Can this be the case in your game too?

Some all powerful class
Blasting the living daylights out of everyone?
Sylar: Haven't I killed you before?
Peter: Didn't take...

Hi!

It depends on the rule system that is being used. The one of the "Conquest of Mythodea" series is kept very simple for playability (this is necessary for the huge amount of players there). It is very hard to become powerful in this system.

The basic rule is: The more (real time) days you have played your character on a LARP event, the more powerful it will become. Let's say you played your character on 2 different LARPs, each lasting a whole weekend from Friday till Sunday. This would make 2 * 3 = 6 gamedays. In the Mythodea rules, you would get gamedays / 2 character points for this, namely: 6 / 2 = 3. Three points for six days of play! To acquire one single spell costs already about 3 points in average! I think you can imagine that, despite the fact that you get 10 points to start with (the gameday points are being added to this), it still is very difficult to become really powerful.

Other rule systems offer different possibilities. Usually, it is bad play to have a character who can, for example do both, fight and cast spells. Nobody wants so called "fighter-mages", because they would really be overpowered and it's also hard to explain from the character background, why somebody should be able to do both. In most rule systems, this is either explicitly or implicitly forbidden. For example, in one system, the presence of larger amounts of metal at the body of the caster of a spell leads to a failure of that spell with critical consequences for the mage. This implicitly prevents the caster from wearing an armour made of metal. He's restricted to cloth or leather armour, which prevents him to become a fully featured fighter (the same counts for shields and weapons, of course). However, there are also systems which require you to pick a class on character creation. As a consequence, you're just allowed to acquire skills that are allowed for that class. This is an explicit way to forbid fighter skills for a mage and vice versa.

Hi!

Hmm, seems that they're redesigning the website. Just the forum is reachable right now. To find out what's going on, see their main address:

Hi!

I'm still collecting them (to be honest: Carhith is doing it). It takes some time until people bring them into the net.
