You recommend a game like Wing Commander to somebody who likes vampire games because of the story ? :P
Having only played Wing Commander 1 20million yrs ago and Wing Commander Prophecy, its simple to say that the game lacked a bit in the gameplay department. I prefer games which let you do more and are less story imprisoned like Elite or Freelancer or even the old Privateer, which was kinda good.

For a storyline theres nothing better than an RPG. Granted new games dont bother with that anymore, they go the way of Hollywood movies and keep throwing the same stuff at you all the time, never really taking off. But older games (those ad&d games owned) and those Japanese ones still kick ass in that department.

About the Soul Reaver games..I also tried 1 or 2 once, but they're either not made to be played on PCs or me just didnt like :P
Those damn horrible cameras in these kinda games always pisses me off. The same for Rayman and all the other damn 3D platformers.
But if you like vampires, you could try Bloodrayne which I actually did like for some odd reason, even though the controls were shitty and it was sooo repetative.

Vampires ? You can play as a vampire in Curse, which I am playing in co-op at the moment.

The gameplay is more Diablo style than Balders Gate though, so it might not suit Cee or Sirfy. I am afraid I get bored if I have to click on every character and wade through reams of text to progress.

Dungeon Siege is my favourite RPG, its just a shame you cant save mutliplayer sieglets. Morrowind was excellent too, but no multiplayer :(

Privateer had a linear story too, the fact you could fly everywhere and had random missions only gave the illusion of non-linearity. If you didn't get to the place where the story continued, the game just went on with the random missions - or with boring trade flights...

Once I was really trying to screw the story totally, by starting a war with the confeds and making friends with the Kilrathi (and Pirates). This actually does work if you DON'T shoot them but instead signal them all that you are not worth being shot at. Helping THEM in battles adds to that. But when you reach the point in the story where you have to fly besides the confeds, those are friendly again, and the game just pretends your offenses never really happened - at least in those "story" missions. If you later go on random ones, every confed you meet again will happily open fire...

I would have liked Wing Commander Armada, if only it had the fighting sequences like any other Wing Commander - but noooooo for some stupid reasons battles are limited to 4 ships simultaniously (2vs2).... and only one carrier?? C'mon...

Well, Dungeon siege is indeed a good RPG (Although i only ever had a ripped copy of it, so i couldn't play it online At All. Thoguth it was a little easy though. And not enough tactics. As tacticalas it got was a lift in a canyon river area, with loads of enemies directly at the top...

Diablo III...Strangely, i haven't heard much about it...Even when i used to play Diablo II (And had a good reputation there! Even though i mention that whenever anyone sais D2!)...

Throne of darkness? Whats that? I have heard of it before...but...

Ow, ya, and if you want stories in your games:

Metal gear solid
FF7
FFX
Dark Chronicle/Dark Cloud 2
Dark Omen (and associated)
Grandia
*cough* Spyro The Dragon.....

Star Ocean 3 (or 4? i forget...): Till The End Of Time
Syphon Filter

And who could forget the in-depth classic:

Sheep, Dog, and Wolf (Or sheep raider in america, but that sounds pornographic)

I'm not sure what you mean by your comment on tactics Xav, the options in Dungeon Siege are pretty much similar to any other RPG that I've played, basically pull the grunts then zap or crunch 'em. Although the summoned helpers messd this up sometimes. Maybe your lack of multiplay option contributed to your opinion ?

You could have tried cranking up the difficulty level a bit if you found it too easy, even the lowest mobs can give you a few hairy moments :D

Dark Omen rings a bell ... was that a Games Workshop thing ? I think I've got it somewhere but I never got around to playing it #rushes to the attic to check

Dark Omen is the soul reaver stuff (in chonological order of story):

Dark Omen, Legacy Of Kain
Dark Omen, Legacy Of Kain 2
Lagacy Of Kain, Soul Reaver
Lagacy Of Kain, Soul Reaver 2
Lagacy Of Kain, Defiance

Well, MGS3 was pretty good...It was less 'accessible' than MGS2 in my opinion though...I played MGS2 for months on end, about 20 times through, because there was always some little thing which i had never done before, such as listened to Jhonny in the toilet with diorhea (spelling?) when your meant to be listening to Ocelot and Solidus with the direction mic...

Puling out the official strat guide for MGS2, they havea whole section on the funny crap you can do in the game...In just the first section:

Aim a few bullets and kicks at the bottles and glasses on the bar: they'll split in precicely the place where you struck them, and neighboring items will move accordingly. Some bottles will also spill liquid.

Shoot ice-cubes out of the container onto the bar, and watch as it slooooowly melts...

You'll seea pin-up (poster) hanging opposite the bar in FPV (first persion view)

Later, after killing Olga:

Shoot olga in the head after killing her; Otacon won't be able to resist passing a remark.

Engine room:

If ou enter the room and immediately knock over one of the guards, he will fall over the railing and knock over one of his comerades....

And that's only scratching the surface...

Ow ya and about dungeon siege, lol i guess it could be pretty tactical compared to some RPGs such as Diablo, but its nothing compared to the turn-based ones...
