New game type in ut 2007
I was looking up a few articles on UT 2007, and came up with some interesting stuff. This came out of "Beyond Unreal".
"While details of this new gametype are still sketchy, Unreal Warfare maps are set to be potentially as large as three Onslaught maps, with 'Assault'-like sub-objectives and even a limited form of resource management. Players will join one of the eight teams, each with its own unique armour, and wage war across huge territories which change depending on which team is in control.
With Unreal Warfare, it's clear that Epic intends to offer something for the more tactical gamer, with the Warfare mode focussing more on strategy, resource management and teamwork. The gameplay sequence at the end of this CG 2005 presentation shows what a Warfare sub-objective might look like.
Steve Polge on Warfare (E3 2006)
First off, in Warfare, you will try to control a series of conduits by delivering an orb to it. Both teams get one Orb, so you'll have to take care of it. Steve mentioned that this will give really skilled players a way to have more fun within the game.
Once you deliver the orb to the conduit another one is created. "
Sounds interesting! And the 2007 series is not juust a better looking 2004, it is basically a mix out of the original UT and 2004.

Conduit = Power Node.
Warfare = Onslaught 2.0.
And here is trailer that shows Warfare in action:

(low res because it's google video).

Hi!
I've seen the trailer about half a year ago already and I liked it. I thought it would be the new Onslaught in UT 2007 because of the Paladin, Leviathan, etc. you see there. But I didn't know that this mode is now being called Warfare and that up to 8 teams can play simultaneously in maps that are three times the size of an average ONS map. To me, this sounds pretty cool. I'm really looking forward to try it out.
But as everyone else here, I need to get new hardware before I can even think about it. Fortunately, I've already waited quite a time since my last update, so it's about time to get some new hardware anyway. So far, I only play with an AthlonXP 2400+ and a Radeon 9600 XT. That's why I have such a bad framerate of about 10 fps occasionally.
I think, I'll simply wait for UT 2007 to be released and have a look at the current hardware prices then. If a good and sufficient system is affordable then, I'll surely upgrade.
By the way, does anyone know a more concrete release date than just 2007?
Coco.

W00t? 8 teams? O.o I heard only about 2 teams, Axon and Necris, each with different vehicles.Coco wrote:Hi!

I'v got GF7600GT and AMD A64 3000+, so I hope that UT2007 will run with 20 FPS on big maps, at 800x600 with lowest detail. :/Coco wrote: But as everyone else here, I need to get new hardware before I can even think about it. Hi Meledictum!

Coco.
Well, that's what DAFranks posting reads. Just take a look at it again (first message in this thread).meledictum wrote:W00t? 8 teams? O.o I heard only about 2 teams, Axon and Necris, each with different vehicles.
Wow, not bad. I'm pretty sure that this will be sufficient. But as always, we'll only know it for sure when the game is released.meledictum wrote:I'v got GF7600GT and AMD A64 3000+, so I hope that UT2007 will run with 20 FPS on big maps, at 800x600 with lowest detail. :/

Hi Lizard man!
Anything else wouldn't make sense. Imagine, you could just bomb yourself a straight way to the enemy core in an Onslaught level (or Warfare then). This would destroy all strategy and make tactical positions along the way senseless. Just think about it in ONS-BattlefrontRilez, for example, and imagine, you could enter the bunkers through the ceiling.
Coco.
Well, it seems so. I think that's why it was shown in the video. But I think, you can't destroy the whole level - that would be awful. Maybe, the map designer can specify which parts are destroyable - preferable those that are critical for statical reasons (just like the arc in the video).Lizard man wrote:the environment is destructible in ut2007?
